Crap drivers in Singapore

Friend gave me a ride home on his bike and twice cars cut us off!! What the fuck is wrong with drivers here? It's bad enough that they can't even stay in their own lane. The least they can do is watch out for other people on the road.

Read somewhere that two people die every day from motorcyle accidents. Don't think they are all the fault of motorcyclists. There are some pretty careless drivers too.

Think they should pass laws here which make it illegal for bikes to weave in and out of traffic or drive on the shoulder. But most of all there needs to be laws so that cars have to treat bikes like cars. i.e. Give them as much space as a car would take. No tailgating or cutting them off.

Annoyed.....

It is a very worrying trend to see that the number of motorcyclists deaths are on the rise. As cited by an article in the Straits Times (16 Jun 05 - Upfront); younger riders being less experienced and more likely to show off to their peers. Some of these accidents are the fault of these errant motorcyclists.

However, there are factors that cause accidents which are not entirely the fault of motorcycle riders. Majority of drivers simply ignore them or do
not give way, using their size to their advantage. The few large vehicle drivers who do give way to motorcyclist are those who probably have motorcycles as their own alternative form of transportation. Some drivers also have a tendency of not signalling early when filtering or completely do not signal at all. I wonder if those amber lights on the side of their cars are only used during the X'mas season as decorative flashing lights?

People ride motorcycles for various reason, but the main one is that it is a cheaper form of transportation. It motorcars are priced like motorcycles,
I would be driving one too. Many of us do not wish to end up lying across the road with injuries or even death. We do have families too!

It is more difficult to ride a motorcycle than to drive a car. Loss of concentration for a split second can be fatal. However, our road conditions are not helping either. Some road have holes large enough for a motorcycle
to run over and to cause it to wobble. Other roads have been resurfaced unevenly and can cause a motorcycle to lose control, especially when these uneven surface are on a bend.

I hereby make a plea for all motorist to drive/ride safely and to respect ALL road users, and not to prematurely leave our loved ones behind.

    Drive Safe and Be Alive.

Yep, the drivers here are terrible and selfish. They can't drive and don't watch out for motorcylists. I am very tempted to learn how to ride a motorcyle, but a doctor friends said they are death machines.

I am really afraid to ride or drive in this country now. Had a near death experience on a bus today too.

Have to think about it some more. A bike is a big investment.
