What is customer service? Does it exist?

Some collegues were talking about the terrible customer service in this country. I have to agree with them. Workers don't know how to deal with customers' problems or complaints.

Customer service is so much better in Canada and the US. Workers are polite and try to help even if they aren't sure what to do. Here, they just say no and ignore you.

I have to really get confrontational to get what I want or any kind of response from workers. How does the government expect more tourists to come if the service here sucks?

What will happen when the casino opens here? Are they going to have to hire foreigners to work there? Are they going to train people to provide good customer service?

I'msiding nobody here, but some customers are really horrible and I'll also have to say some service people are just as bad. When I was where I previously was, we have both of 'em. Some of the staff are horrible simply because they don't have the answer to the customers' questions and thus trying to avoid it, while some customers are just looking for someone to point their finger at, meaning they don't wanna admit it's a case of 'user problems'. Those of us who do our best are the type who knows our stuff, those who don't, like the boss, are the perfect example of the "i-don't-care-I-just-want-the-money" type.

There's another problem here. The never-ending cycle of bad service and bad customers. If the customers are rude, then the staff tends to be rude too.

On the other hand if I say "thank you", how come there is no reply from the clerk? Shouldn't they also reply politely? I never had this problem in other countries. They always say thank you back.

Sadly, this country is as such, well, pretty much. Although that's not the reason why I wanna get the hell outta here, I still wanna get out, well, eventually.

Someone actually said thank you to me. The cashier at the shop and save. Yippee! There's hope yet. However, I think this was an exception. Most other places don't say anything. They just take my money.

Unreal: Why do you want to leave?

Maybe that cashier is not a Singaporean? Ever thought of that?

    Heh......

Anyway, it's because this country don't like what people like me like. One of my friends ever said "we're the right people for the wrong country" and the whole lot of us actually agreed. So it's really not just me that wants to bail. I just wanna go to a place, work hard and use the money and die happy, not slog for my bills and the super standard of living, The government once said that he wanted to make Singapore into a high end country with high end living. Well, people like us are not interested in high end living, we are intersted in living happy.

Anyway, sorry about your comment onmy post 'cause I disabled the comments thing when I post it up. But then when I enable it again, your comment's missing.

No, the cashier was definitely Chinese Singaporean.

I will try to remember my comment for your blog and post it again. Maybe in the the next days. I think it was about people not having to change if they get into a relationship. They shouldn't have to.

We all know that, but thing is, that don't happen all the time. Don't you think?

Small changes in behaviour are usually required. But I think any changes to someone's personality is unacceptable. If you don't like it, then shove off! I am not going to change who I am just to date some guy.

If only all girls think like you, this world will be a better place.....

But some people might say I am uncooperative or have a negative attitude. I just don't compromise on certain things.

That's only 'some' so I don't see a problem with that. Those girls that have the mindset of changing their guys are the scary ones.

I think it's still terrible. You should like someone the way the are. Not because you think they can be someone else! It's ridiculous. It's so insulting to the guy too.
