Simple Woman

I was talking with a friend while waiting for the MRT when she mentioned our mutual friend. He is getting married in December. I am very happy for him. She revealed that his gf is only the third woman he has ever dated.

Wow, that's a low number. He must be the very serious type who doesn't play around. Nothing wrong with that. He is over thirty, so I guess he knows what he wants.

My friend also said he chose her because "She was a simple girl."

What does that mean? I don't think he means she is simple-minded or stupid. I have met her a few times. She is smart and interesting. I think he is a nice guy who is a good judge of character, so he chose the right girl.

So is that what men want? "A simple girl." What does that mean?

a woman with simple expectations in life. not the sort who get dissatisfied when the husband can't provide a luxurous life.

Erm...no he's not. He meant she just wants to be happy and be treated reasonably. She doesn't even want a church wedding. She wants to keep it simple and not some big expensive show for the relatives.

Personally, I say just get the marriage licence and have a civil ceremony. Then a simple party for friends and family.

Most weddings are too long and boring. Also, expensive for the parents and couple.

Yep, they can buy a couple of his and her motorbikes....

I really think that most weddings are not fun for the couple. They are basically on display and they don't know most of the guests because they are mostly friends of the parents.

What if the couple never plans on starting a family? I have quite a few married friends who don't plan on having children...though some of them have changed their minds and are trying. Might be too late for some of them....which is too bad.
