Below Minimum Standard

What should the boss do about people who can't meet the minimum standard at their job? Should they be fired? Give them a few more chances and then get rid of them if they don't improve? I think they should be given extra training or support to bring them up to the level of the other employees.

What about someone who far exeeds the minimum? Shouldn't they be given more challenges and allowed to fly? Shouldn't they be recognized for their accomplishments? They would probably quit if they feel bored. These are the people who are going to drive the company and keep it going.

I think a company fails when it can't deal with the poor workers and the excellent workers.

What kind of boss would you be? Someone who just cuts away the dead wood? Or someone who tries to find another way to solve the problem?

How a company deals with the good and bad apples shows what kind of company it really is

Guess one could try to change things from within instead of just quitting and moving to another company. A friend said there is never a perfect fit, but there could be a better one. Each company has its own culture. Ideally, you would find one that you can fit into.
