More Brats in the Cinema

It happened again. Was watching a movie and there was a little boy sitting with his family behind me. I think children who can't keep quiet at the cinema should be kicked out with their parents. They should be banned from ever entering again.

Don't their parents ever teach their kids how to behave in public? It's disgraceful. My parents would have smacked in the side of the head or taken me back home.

Obviously, some of the younger kids should not be in cinemas at all.

Message to all parents:

Teach your kids how to behave at the movies or keep them at home. Why should the rest of us have to suffer? You are not the only people in the cinema!!!

Singapore Men Know How to Score?

Read an article in the newspaper Today this morning which made me laugh. The headline was "Singapore Men Know How to Score." Is that a joke?

It sounds like propaganda or something to boast morale. Where are they getting the conclusions from? Apparently, there was an island-wide survey funded by Pfizer to find out what Singapore Men want.

But there's no mention in the article of which age groups were surveyed and how many people. Were they married, single, or what?

Erm....shouldn't they have surveyed the women too?

Overstimulated Aunties

I had the strangest experience (and also one of the my scariest) last night. I saw a mob of aunties who were waiting for Jang Dong-Gun, a Korean actor at Great World City. He was here for the opening of his new movie.

It was insane. I magine it was comparable to waiting for Brad Pitt or The Beattles. And the fans were old. They were like 50 year old women. Some of them even came from Indonesia just to get a glimpse of their favorite Korean hunk.

Have to admit that Jang Dong-Gun is really good-looking. Looks better in person than on the movie screen. He plays the lead in Chen Kaige's new movie, The Promise.

Fortunately, no one was hurt. They need better crowd control. Someone could have gotten trampled by those crazy and pushy aunties.

I have never seen anything like a crowd like that at a movie theatre before. Fanatics!

Carpentry and Irritating Noises

Bang, bang, bang.

Crash!

Bang, bang, bang.

Double crash!!

There seems to be a lot of noise coming from the apartment above mine. It was 6 a.m. and I feel like there was an army of carpenters above my bed(not very good ones since they keep dropping stuff.

Don't they realize that I am still suffering from lack of sleep? How dare they??

Hope nothing falls through the ceiling and lands on me unless it's some hunky guy with abs of steel....(not likely in this country),

It's noise pollution! I am calling the NEA next time. The inconsiderate people in this country is truly overwhelming.

Insomnia

Didn't sleep well the last couple of nights. Maybe I am thinking too much. Work stress. Also, I am very left-brained, so hard to get my head to slow down and relax.

Any suggestions other than the usual? i.e. read a book, drink hot milk, do yoga....

Does reel love exist in real life?

A friend asked me if I believed in the undying love that you see on the movie screen. That someone would regret for years about a lost love. That sometimes, you meet someone and you immediately connect with them.

That the connection does not have anything to do with your individual traits or how you feel, but about what you become with the other person.

Answer: No. Not yet.

Other answer: Maybe never....

Feeling Free

What is freedom in one's life? Was talking about that with a female friend the other day. I told her that I enjoy my freedom. (we are both single) My family doesn't put much pressure on me and pretty much leaves me alone most of the time. They only ask that I visit them once in a while or ring them up. Actually, they usually ring me before I ring them. We have a good relationship.

My job has a decent working hours. No overtime. Working on weekends is rare. I am not rich, but I can support myself. No bf to take care of or to share decisions with. Travel if I feel like it. Buy whatever I want and when I want.

But how many people can say that about their life? In Singapore, most people seem to spend all of their time working or fulfilling various obligations which they don't care about. Doing what is expected about them. Doing stuff because their families expect them to. Just going through the motions. Not enjoying their life.

I get tired of hearing people complaining about work or their families. Do something about it. Have some guts to stand up for yourself. Why are they choosing to be so unhappy?

Geek Magnet

Went to see a movie with a couple of friends and one of them brought another friend. They are all male. Oh yeah....almost all of my friends are male.

Think it's easier to get along with guys than gals. They are less sensitive about stuff and I don't have to censor myself. i.e. "You look like a slob today. Why did you wear that?"

Could never say that to a female friend. Well,I could, but I would do it in a more polite way. i.e. "Were you in a hurry today? You look a bit disorganized."

Anyways, my friends' friend turned out to be IT geek. Meaning: I know tons of them already and not really interested in knowing more. Do I sound like a snob? Well, I am....sort of. Life is short and I can't be bothered to get to know people who I am not that interested in. Actually, it's not so much that he is an IT geek. I just didn't find him that interesting. There needs to be some common interest or connection, or I don't make any effort. Everyone does that, so why shouldn't I?

The geek IT guy then asked for my number. Was too polite to say "No way." So gave him my card. He did this behind my other friends'backs. My friends had already jumped onto their bus. Messaged my other friends about it later and they thought that was funny.

If he ever contacts me, I will just tell him I am not interested. I hope my male friends have already warned him not to contact me. Ha!

Wow, I sound like a real ego maniac on this blog. Oh well.....

Wedding Gifts

A friend is getting married soon. Not sure what to get for a gift. Most people just give money, but I think that's so impersonal.

Crap! Hate having to shop during this time of year. Too many people everywhere.

Everyone pushing and shoving. Kind of violent. I need safety equipment or a big stick to prevent people from bumping into me. Annoying.

Single Men

A friend of mine was complaining....or commenting about how he can't find women his own age. He is in his mid thirties and works in IT. He said that the women who he is interested in are all married or already attached. He also said that he doesn't really want to date anyone under 30 because they are not mature enough and don't want a serious relationship.

Didn't know what advice to give him since I have the same problem. Should he give up? Should he move to another country? Should he try one of those bride agencies? The last option is definitely out. He is kind of a romantic and idealist at heart.

Erm...let me know if any of you know anyone he might be interested in. I hope he doesn't read this and gets mad at me. Ha!

The New Zouk

Has anyone been to the refurnbished Zouk? It doesn't really look as good as I thought it would. Marketing gimic to get more people to go there. The customized wall in the tunnel which cost thousands to make is not a big deal. Guess they had to redecorate to compete with newer clubs.

The regular customers don't care what it looks like. They will go there for the guest deejays.

Personally, I like Phuture more. The crowd is less snobby and the music is better. Tired of techno. Zouk is full of posers or many people who just want to be seen.

They don't look like they are having a good time at all.

Is Winter Coming?

It feels a lot colder lately. I think it may even be only 28 celsius! I can't believe that I am wearing pullovers and cardigans. I usually only need them when I go to the movies because it's so f-----cold inside.

Is this Singapore's idea of winter?

And it's raining a lot lately too. When is the rainy season exactly?
